Yo, how's everyone been? I would have written an email last week, but my last pday was the 4th of July, and I was busy being American. This has been a long past 10 days.
Primeramente, my companion's broken wrist has rendered him unable to ride a bike. Asi que we needed a new form of transportation. They gave us a car.
Since receiving a car, we have been able to find and teach more than 10x more efficiently. I definitely would invest in cars. This is revolutionary technology.
We had a good 4th of July, and due to the lack of trees, we were able to stand on our back porch and watch fireworks. All of West Valley was getting blown up the whole weekend. Pretty cool.
We are now teaching about 7 different people (thanks, car), and a bunch of them are already preparing to be baptized. Only problem is that out of all those 7 and all the other probably millions of people we invited to church, 0 of them actually showed up. Dang it.
We did, however, have 1 non member come. A member invited him the day before just walking by his house on the way to the church. He lives right next to the church, but works absurd hours during the week, which is not too different from most people here.
My companion's a cool dude, and we're bonding quickly now that I have to tie his ties for him every morning since his wrist is broken. We'll probably be stuck together next transfer too if the mission doesn't decide to send him to an area where the need for a car is greater.
One person we were teaching told us about a dream she had where her friend who passed away told her that the Lord is coming soon. Kind of an awesome dream if you ask me.
That helped me reflect on how important our personal preparation is in order to be ready whenever the time comes when we meet the Savior, whether that comes during this lifetime or after.
There's a lot of scriptures that I love on this topic, and Alma chapter 5 is a good one for self reflection.
In verse 37, it says, "(Ye) have gone astray, as sheep having no shepherd, notwithstanding a shepherd hath called after you and is still calling after you, but ye will not hearken unto his voice!"
I really love the imagery of Christ being our shepherd, and us being His sheep, and it works super well to teach us in many different ways.
Sheep will only follow the voice of their own shepherd. After the time they spend with him, they will learn to hear and recognize his voice. They will follow him when he calls.
In just the same way, we must spend time to learn to hear and recognize the voice of our Savior so that we can follow Him when He calls us. Because if we don't/can't hearken unto His voice, of what fold are we? Who is our shepherd?
Fue un placer escribir todo esto, espero que pueden entender lo que escribí, porque no sé que estoy haciendo. Me cansé la semana pasada, la verdad.
You should see what kind of shenanigans we get up to behind the scenes:
Love you guys! Los amo! See ya!
