Hello 👋
It's starting to get colder here and I love it. The air smells crisp like October. It is hard to explain the happiness that brings me.
The work has not moved forward on our side of the area. Meanwhile, the hermanas with whom we share a ward did have a baptism this Sunday. I think that's the first one in a few months for the ward.
For Hispanic heritage month, all the Spanish wards are having huge parties to celebrate with food, dances, costumes, and, like any latino party, super loud music. Our ward had theirs Saturday.
It was pretty fun, actually. All the tables in the building were lined up around the gym with a different country at each table. Each country brought traditional food for everybody to try. Peru had the best food.
We were hoping some of the non-members we invited would come, but we didn't see them.
I have some videos of the dances, but not any of the more interesting ones. 🥲 I'll have to see if I can get them.
One of the things I love about being a missionary is all the miracles we are able to witness in helping others live the gospel.
The elders in our district had been teaching and lady and her three kids that were in a bit of a financial crisis. The mom kept putting off coming church and getting baptized so she could find work and earn money, but her efforts were unsuccessful. When she finally turned to God and decided to be baptized, her baptismal date fell on the very day she was to be evicted from her apartment. It was a complicated situation for her, and she was super stressed the whole week. After she was baptized, she said she felt an incredible peace. Her problems didn't go away, but she knew she would be okay.
A week passed, and I'm not sure what happened, but somehow she's still living in the same apartment. She wasn't evicted. We literally don't know why or how, but she's fine.
While I personally continue working to see miracles in this area, I know God always blesses those who keep His commandments! Embrace His doctrine and accept the peace the gospel brings!
