Week 48: These Hips Don't Lie

Monday, September 1, 2025  10:41pm

Hey, I am once again writing very late because I am too busy enjoying my mission.

This week was not just a bit crazy, but a lot crazy.

By some miracle, the 25 daughter of the friends we had been preparing for baptism agreed to being baptized this past Sunday! She had been taught previously by several missionaries, so we just reviewed some things with her, got her the interview, and she was ready yo go.

Unfortunately, on Saturday her dad had a stroke. So, uh, needless to say she was not baptized Sunday and we didn't want to pressure them, so we just offered help in whatever way we could. God is patient, baptism can wait a little. I'm sure He has something planned anyways.

Two of our other friends just got new jobs this week and missed church. 🫠 Even 3 Nephi 13:31-33 doesn't get through to these Latinos. Promises straight from the mouth of Christ! It is what it is.

We tried to take a friend to temple square, but it was closed when we got there. We thought our friend was gonna be mad, but he invited us to eat at his house afterwards, so it's all good.

A bunch of police officers blocked a street where one of our new friends and a member live looking for a criminal fugitive in a house I had knocked many times previously, and stopped us from giving a tour to that friend with that member there to help us. Freaky stuff has been happening here. Really freaky stuff.

Something that I really like this week in my studies was from a talk by Elder Holland in 2016 called, "Tomorrow the Lord Will Do Wonders among You."

One of my favorite quotes:
"The first great commandment of all eternity is to love God with all of our heart, might, mind, and strength—that’s the first great commandment. But the first great truth of all eternity is that God loves us with all of His heart, might, mind, and strength."

God loves us at all times, more than we can comprehend.

In a similar way, I also love you guys. Probably in a slightly more comprehensible way, but I think you can still feel good about that.

There's a couple cool things in my photos, I promise.
