Week 44: History Repeats Itself

Monday, August 4, 2025   10:17pm

Hola, mis queridos hermanos y hermanas. We saw quite a few miracles last week, and I'm pretty exhausted, but excited to keep working.

We received transfer news Sunday night... I'm staying here in Copper Mountain with Elder Stentzel in Momma T's house. And we still have a car! But wait, it gets better.

I was anticipating to be moved up to leadership, because the mission needs more people to fill those roles, but instead of me, Elder Stentzel my companion was made district leader! I'm saved for another day, haha. We have a large district, though, so it will be more demanding, but it'll be a good learning experience for both of us.

We found some new friends:

Beatriz really wants to be baptized, and came to church this Sunday! She is in a very difficult situation for many different reasons, and could use your prayers.

Jose & Ana are interested in learning more and helping their children and grandchildren grow in the gospel. They are open to learning more about and preparing to be baptized! It's very fun to teach them, Jose always has a ton of questions, and Ana helps to answer, which is an unexpected dynamic, haha.

While reading a conference talk, I came across a verse of scripture that me encantó (sorry, I feel like that was expressed better in spanish).

In 2 Samuel 24, King David needs to offer a sacrifice to God, and a dude named Araunah offers to give David what he needs for the sacrifice for free. In verse 24, David responds, saying,

"Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the Lord my God of that which doth cost me nothing."

David understood the importance of a meaningful sacrifice. He refused to make an offering that wouldn't be a sacrifice, something that would cost him nothing.

When we show God that we are willing to put Him above all other things, we can receive blessing of every kind.

Today, we don't make burnt offerings, but we still make sacrifices to show God we love Him. A sacrifice of money, time, energy, or other things that are important to us show God that we are willing to obey Him and follow Him no matter the circumstances.

I invite you to think of and make a small sacrifice of whatever stops you from giving your whole heart to God! I promise that as you make an extra effort, that God will pour his spirit upon you and bless your life! You will feel happier!

Look how much fun I'm having:

I love you all so, so much! Adios🫡
