The transfer felt like it was forever ago, but I guess this was only the first week. I guess that's because I'm still in the same area with the same companion.
We found one more friend last week that has availability on Sunday!! She is pretty eager to listen and learn! That makes 2 currently progressing.
We also found 2 others yesterday, a mother and her 16 year old son, who are likely to begin progressing as well, but we haven't had any actual lessons with them yet, so we'll see...
In total, we've got 2 progressing, 3 we are beginning to teach, 4 learning that are unable to go to church, 2 that have fallen out of existence, and 2 that are prepared for baptism, but can't be baptized because of a complicated family situation.
But regardless of whether or not we get to baptize them, it's super awesome to be able to teach them and help them to learn and understand the gospel!
One of the (many) benefits to serving in a Salt Lake City mission is that we are, in fact, very near Salt Lake City. Which is where Temple Square is. Which is where the Conference Center is.
So I was able to be at the Sunday morning session of General Conference... that was pretty cool. All of those people that I'm used to only seeing on the TV actually exist! It was like meeting the Power Rangers! (The apostles and general authorities help protect us from spiritual danger.) I also saw the mustache guy that sings in the choir.👀
My 2 favorite talks this Conference were the first and the last. The one given by Elder Holland, and the other by our prophet.
President Nelson spoke about how necessary it is to be charitable, for without charity we are nothing, but also, to let virtue garnish our thoughts. I thought this related very well to Elder Holland's talk, about becoming as a little child.
This helped me realize why Christ speaks about little children as He does, and why it's so important to be as a little child; little children are incredibly faithful, always have a brightness of hope, and are also more charitable than we realize. They are a very near perfect example of virtue, untainted from the opinions of the world.
If we do not become humble, meek, and submissive as a child, we cannot reach the potential that God has in mind for us on earth nor in the life after.
I love being able to imagine, though they are often loud, crazy, and not at all careful, how Jesus must feel about the little children that heavily influence our lives. If we are supposed to be more like a little child, then obviously, there's a lot that they can teach us. I'd like to invite you to pay attention to the children you interact with and see what attributes of Christ are in them, and how you might incorporate that into your own habits and nature.
I love you guys!!
