Week 26:

Monday, March 31, 2025   5:42pm

My ankles have been hurting this week after I injured one of them last Monday playing soccer, and my other ankle... Well, I'm not quite sure what happened to it, but it spontaneously is causing me pain. I hope that's not a bad sign... But between walking all over our area and the various sport activities with the ward and with other missionaries, I've not had a lot of time to rest my poor and weary ankles.

Regardless of that, the work must roll forward. And does! Our friend Andres was baptized this Sunday! He's a part of the 8+ people family we found a month ago. He's kind of seen as the 'chief' man of the household, and he's a great example for his family and friends!

His wife used to have full availability 24/7. So she has every lesson, but last week, she was fortunate enough to find a job... that has her work all Sunday... don't know if she had church in mind when she decided to do that but it is what it is. It may take some time for the rest of the household to follow Andres' example, but I'm sure he'll be an awesome influence on them.

On Wednesdays, our ward has decided to get together to play sports at the church. Usually soccer. Haha. Somehow, all four of the elders in our ward ended up on the same team. And we won a majority of the time! Against Latinos who are obsessed with soccer! (It often came down to a coin flip.)

We have started teaching a few people with zero Sunday availability, and they mostly seem to understand and enjoy learning the gospel! That always happens. Just doing a little garden work. 🫘🌱🚿

Speaking of garden work, we had a service opportunity! An elderly member named Mary wanted us to transplant her rose bush to a different part of her yard. I didn't know how much I missed using a shovel and working outside in the heat (it was sunny this week??!) to complete a project. Also, rose bushes are really good at poking you.

Transfers!
We get transfers on Tuesday. Elder Enciso and I are staying in Springhil B, but we lose our beloved roommate Elder Hall. The next guy coming in is Polynesian. We'll see how that goes.

There was a lot of leadership changes as well. Many of the people who got here at the same time as me are training, district leaders, and even zone leaders! 😵

Something I am currently working harder at doing is applying the scriptures to myself and the lives of our friends.

As Nephi says in 1Nephi 19:23, "I did liken all scriptures unto us, that it might be for our profit and learning."

I really enjoy being able to think more deeply about how the gospel relates to me personally, how it connects to each person in different ways, and might have another significance to someone else!

It is critical to our spiritual growth to liken the scriptures to our own lives when we read them. I have been able to receive more revelation for myself, and for those I am teaching. I know that the scriptures can be of an even greater value for you if you look for what God wants to teach you.

Adiós!
