Happy Halloween!!! And Happy November!!!
Halloween on the mission is actually pretty fun despite not being able to participate in anything or even be outside Halloween night. I'm sad I won't have another one while I'm out here, haha.
Nothing too crazy has been happening, but I think we'll probably have some new people to teach. We've been trying to contact old referrals as well as a few new referrals that we have received recently.
One referral was from a member, telling us her friend had wanted to start meeting with the missionaries. We got her friend's contact information and address, and it turns out she lives in the same apartment complex as we do! She has been sick for the past couple days, but she seems very genuinely interested, and we'll be able to teach her soon.
Our friend Carlos who was baptized last week was sustained on Sunday to receive the Aaronic Preisthood! The ward is super good about giving ministering assignments, so that really helps. It's always awesome to see him, he always seems so happy now!
One weird thing that happened to us Saturday: We were just walking through one of the neighborhoods in our area going checking up on each house marked as Spanish when out of one of the houses runs a very obviously drunken Latino man. He asked us our names, but didn't really pay attention to the answer and instead starting hugging us.
We talked to him for a little bit and he said a lot of things that didn't really make a lot of sense. Then he told us how much he appreciated the work we do and proceeded to hug us once again, this time with an added kiss on the cheek for each of us.
He then looked me in the eyes and asked me to bless him. So, he held on to me in a tight embrace as I prayed for him. He started to tremble and sob. After that, he went back inside and starting drinking again, lol. 🍻
Something I've been reflecting on again and again is how much and how rapidly the world is changing. A lot of things are improving and technology is advancing at an amazing rate, but hate and wickedness seem to follow much too closely.
There's a scripture in D&C that I really like and I think can help us and lot in our current situation. President Nelson referred to this scripture a lot in his last talk.
121:45
Let thy bowels also be full of charity towards all men, and to the household of faith, and let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and the doctrine of the priesthood shall distil upon thy soul as the dews from heaven.
Something I take from this the importance of focusing on good, pure, and fulfilling things of this life. We can choose virtue by focusing on things that will enlarge our soul and that includes being charitable and understanding towards others.
Bye!! Love yas!! ❤️
Next bishop right here
